Plop-Shtubei
The village is located on the old lands of the "Noul Neamț" Monastery, on the bank of the Botna river. That is, in these places, there were grazing ground with musty grass and many fruitful trees. Wild animals and birds swarmed through the groves and groves. And the river Botna had crystal clear water and was full of fish. Not far from these picturesque places, the monastery was built - the one in Chitcani.
There were also some large sheepfolds here. Periodically, the shepherds took the cheese to the monastery, but also sold it to the merchants. To make it easier for foreign merchants to find this place, they were told to come to the sheepfold surrounded by poplars. Some shepherds liked honey very much and thought that it would not be bad to do some hives, because there were many bees swarming around. The hives placed them next to the stem of a vigorous poplar. And when people took honey and candle wax to the monastery, they said they were from Poplars with hives. This is how the name of the village was born: Plop-Știubei.
For the first time the village of Plop-Știubei is mentioned in the chronicles of Moldavia in 1850. In 1917 Alexei Mateevici writes about the village of Plop-Știubei, the poem "Noul Neamț". Most of the village is located on the hilly plain and only partially and located in the plain of the Botna River, the relief of the village generally presents a hilly plain where the formation of ravines and landslides take place.
The locals are also proud of the fact that Grigore Vieru loved and cherished them, who, after visiting them, dedicated a poem to them:
Here is the village
eternity, here is the village of love -
All the honey of mankind
gathered in Plopi-Stiubei.
Poplar-Stiubei, flowers
lime, here are my parents,
Plop-Stiubei under a
star, this is my country!
The Museum of the Natal Land was organized inside the school, where there are many old objects from the past, collected from the villagers.
