Members of the Administrative Council of the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site on a study visit to the Rodna Mountains

In July of 2021, the Administrative Council of the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site, composed of mayors and representatives of the LPAs of the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site, together with the Ecological Society BIOTICA and EcoContact, visited the National Parks "Rodna Mountains". Călimani ”and“ Maramureș Mountains ”in Romania. During this study visit, Council members had the opportunity to interact with both representatives of the administration of protected natural areas and to interact with the nature of these places, in order to better understand the aspects of biodiversity conservation and the challenges associated with this practice.

The participants were impressed by the degree of dedication of the representatives of the protected natural areas, and the questions flowed incessantly. The short trips conveyed to the participants the taste of the ranger profession in a National Park, but also opened new ecosystems and landscapes for visitors. The members of the Administrative Council of the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site, found out about the successes and difficulties of the administrations of the protected natural areas, which made them think, but most importantly, we hope that in the near future, will make them to act.

The study visit took place within the project Ecosystem-based adaptation, climate-resilience measures and institutional development in the Lower Dniester” implemented by the Ecological Society BIOTICA in partnership with EcoContact, with the support of the Austrian Development Agency.
