
One of the largest villages in the republic, Talmaza, is also the first locality on the Dniester bank of the Ștefan Vodă district. It probably dates from the 1930s. XVI, although it is mentioned for the first time in an act from the year (1532). In 1595, together with 6 other localities in the vicinity, it was ceded to the Tatar inn. In fact, "Talmaz" translates from Old Tatar as "tireless", a first inhabitant of the village (through the twelfth and fourteenth centuries) may bear a name of Turanian origin, or the nickname "Talmaz", from which the name was formed. the village.
The famous Turkish traveler Evlia Celebi in her 1657 journey wrote that Talmaza was a "Wallachian village", even though it belonged to the Tatar inn. Talmaza is also known as the home village of the illustrious encyclopedist, member of the Government of interwar Romania, Ștefan Ciobanu.
Most of the village estate is crossed by the Dniester River. The abbess "Blind Dniester" called by the locals and "Dniester Chior", is worth visiting because it represents the old riverbed of the Dniester. Here the pond flora and fauna have been preserved intact, as they were two centuries ago, and there is a beautiful pond forest nearby. Also here is a part of the old "Turkish Garden", probably one of the first protected natural areas in Europe, where a few centuries ago the Turkish administration banned the exploitation of the forest by the natives, to protect it and increase its wealth. The forest can be reached through the "Strait" - a narrow and barren place in the northwest of the village estate. At the same time, several streams flow in this area (Stanoşte, Gârla Cazionă, Gârla Cucului, Gârla Satului, Adana, Bahna Cioroiului, Bătlănița, Iezerul, Știubeiul, Cruglic, Puica), which bypass the secular forest from Jidran and Unghiul Boului. Also here are the thresholds of the lower Dniester;
The landscape of the Dniester Valley is completed by several picturesque valleys and high hills. The plains also keep old local names (Altița, Arpintea, Frasanul, Jidran, at Câzâl, Fundul Colacului, at Hârlău, at Chep-tănărița, at Săraturi, at Cucoşoaie, at Chira, Locul Popilor, in Toloace, Știubei, Ungi The traveler can quench his thirst at several old springs or wells.
