Inauguration of the tourist information center in the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site
On May 31, 2021, with the support of the Austrian Development Agency, the Ramsar Tourist Information Center "Lower Dniester" was inaugurated in the House of Culture in Palanca - a focal point, located at the border with Ukraine, which is crossed by an impressive number of tourists during the year.
To open and ensure functionality, the Center benefited from equipment and materials provided through the project " Ecosystem-based adaptation, climate-resilience measures and institutional development in the Lower Dniester”"" implemented by PA ES BIOTICA and PA EcoContact and funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) from the Austrian Development and Cooperation Program (ADC).
Thanks to this support, future visitors to the Center will receive extensive and relevant information about the value of the site, as well as about the future National Park "Lower Dniester".
Present at the event, Mr. Gunther Zimmer, Head of the Coordination Office for Technical Cooperation at the Austrian Embassy in Chisinau, mentioned that “… Since 2012, the Austrian Development Agency has been actively supporting the implementation of effective measures for water resources management and environmental risk mitigation. in favor of ecosystem services approaching in the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site, natural systems being seen differently - as sources of services and goods for people! Since then, much progress has been made and we expect to achieve, with joint efforts, the long-term functionality of the Lower Dniester Ramsar Site - through better conditions, for better protection of the site, through improved ecosystem services and through livelihoods (for the population) resilient to climate change.”
From now on, tourists will be able to find out where and how they can spend time in the Lower Dniester, who and how takes care of this area and what is the unique specifics of this place, at the tourist center will be placed information materials. At the same time, the visitors of the center will be consulted by a specialized person, who will guide them through the available materials and will help them to easily find different destinations in the area.
